Return & Refund Policy — OUTBOATMOTOR
Last Updated: September 7, 2026
Thank you for shopping with OUTBOATMOTOR. We want you to have confidence when purchasing an outboard motor or marine product from us.
This Return & Refund Policy explains when products may be returned, how to request a return, and how refunds are handled.
Important: Replace the bracketed information below with your actual return address, email, return timeframe, and any manufacturer-specific warranty terms before publishing.
1. Return Period
We accept eligible returns requested within [30] days of the date your order was delivered.
To be eligible for a return, you must contact OUTBOATMOTOR within the applicable return period and receive return instructions before sending the product back.
Products returned without prior authorization may be refused or delayed.
2. Return Eligibility
To qualify for a return, an item generally must:
- Be purchased directly from OUTBOATMOTOR.
- Be within the applicable return period.
- Be unused or have only been used to the extent reasonably necessary to inspect the product.
- Be in its original condition.
- Include the original packaging where reasonably possible.
- Include manuals, accessories, documentation, keys, controls, hardware, and other components supplied with the product.
- Not have been damaged through misuse, improper installation, modification, neglect, accident, or improper storage.
Certain products may have additional return requirements because of their size, weight, fuel system, electrical components, or manufacturer requirements.
3. Outboard Motors
Because outboard motors are high-value marine equipment, additional conditions may apply.
Before returning an outboard motor, please contact us for authorization and instructions.
An outboard motor may not be eligible for a standard return if it has:
- Been installed on a boat
- Been operated or run
- Been fueled
- Had oil or other fluids added
- Been modified
- Been damaged during installation
- Been improperly stored
- Been altered from its original configuration
- Sustained damage caused by misuse or negligence
If an outboard motor has been operated, contact us before attempting to return it. Depending on the circumstances, the issue may need to be handled under the applicable manufacturer warranty rather than our standard return policy.
4. Products That Cannot Be Returned
Unless required otherwise by applicable law, certain items may be non-returnable, including:
- Used or operated outboard motors
- Products damaged after delivery through customer misuse
- Products that have been modified or altered
- Products installed incorrectly
- Special-order or custom-configured products
- Products specifically identified as non-returnable at the time of purchase
- Certain electrical or electronic components after installation
- Items that cannot reasonably be resold because of their condition
If you are unsure whether an item can be returned, contact us before opening, installing, or using it.

Where appropriate, we may work with the shipping carrier to investigate the damage and determine the appropriate solution.
Depending on the circumstances, we may offer:
- Replacement

- Other appropriate resolution
Do not return a visibly damaged item without first contacting us for instructions.
7. Incorrect Product
If we accidentally send you a product that differs from what you ordered, contact us before using or installing the product.

Do not ship a product to OUTBOATMOTOR before receiving return instructions.
Approved returns may be assigned a return authorization or reference number.
Please include the requested information with your return so that we can identify and process it efficiently.
Returns sent to an incorrect address or without authorization may experience processing delays.
10. Return Shipping Costs
Unless otherwise required by law:
Customer-requested returns
If you are returning an eligible product because you changed your mind, ordered the wrong product, or no longer want the item, you may be responsible for return shipping costs.
Our error
If we sent you the wrong product or the product was defective or damaged before delivery, OUTBOATMOTOR may cover reasonable return shipping costs after the issue has been verified.
The specific shipping arrangements will be communicated when your return is approved.
11. Large or Heavy Products
Outboard motors and other marine equipment may be large or heavy and may require special transportation.
Do not independently arrange an ordinary parcel return for a large or heavy product without first contacting OUTBOATMOTOR.
We may provide specific instructions regarding:
- Freight shipping
- Packaging
- Pallet requirements
- Carrier arrangements
- Pickup procedures
- Return documentation
Additional transportation costs may apply depending on the reason for the return.
12. Return Inspection
Once a returned product is received, we may inspect it to determine whether it satisfies the conditions of this Return Policy.
Inspection may include checking:
- Product condition
- Serial number
- Packaging
- Accessories
- Manuals
- Hardware
- Signs of installation
- Signs of use
- Physical damage
- Modifications
- Missing components
A return does not automatically guarantee a refund.
13. Refunds
If your return is approved, the refund will generally be issued to the original payment method.
Refunds may include the eligible purchase price and applicable taxes.
Unless otherwise required by law, original shipping charges may not be refundable.
If a returned product does not satisfy the return requirements, we may reject the return or deduct applicable costs from the refund where permitted by law.
14. Refund Processing Time
After we receive and inspect an approved return, refunds are generally processed within [5–10 business days].
The time required for the funds to appear in your account may vary depending on your bank, card issuer, or payment provider.
OUTBOATMOTOR cannot control processing times imposed by third-party financial institutions.
15. Partial Refunds
In certain circumstances, a partial refund may be appropriate.
This may apply where:
- An item is returned with missing components
- Packaging is missing or significantly damaged
- The product shows unauthorized use
- The product has been installed
- The product has been modified
- The product has sustained customer-caused damage
Any deduction will be communicated where applicable.
16. Exchanges
Where available, eligible products may be exchanged for another product.
Because outboard motors vary considerably by horsepower, shaft length, configuration, and specifications, customers should contact us before requesting an exchange.
An exchange may require payment of a price difference, additional shipping costs, or other applicable charges.
17. Manufacturer Warranty
Some products sold by OUTBOATMOTOR may include a manufacturer’s warranty.
A manufacturer’s warranty is separate from our standard return policy.
Warranty coverage, duration, exclusions, and claim procedures are determined by the applicable manufacturer.
Where appropriate, we may assist you in determining how to initiate a warranty claim.
Customers should not assume that a manufacturer’s warranty covers:
- Improper installation
- Normal wear
- Accidental damage
- Misuse
- Unauthorized modifications
- Improper maintenance
- Damage caused by operating the product outside manufacturer specifications
Please consult the applicable manufacturer’s warranty documentation for complete terms.
18. Defective Products
If you believe your product is defective, contact us before attempting repairs or modifications.
Depending on the product and circumstances, we may:
- Troubleshoot the issue
- Request photographs or documentation
- Refer you to the manufacturer
- Arrange an inspection
- Provide a replacement where appropriate
- Process an eligible refund
Unauthorized repairs or modifications may affect warranty or return eligibility.
19. Incorrect Fit or Compatibility
Customers are responsible for confirming that an outboard motor is appropriate for their boat before purchase.
Before purchasing, carefully verify factors including:
- Recommended horsepower
- Maximum horsepower
- Shaft length
- Transom height
- Engine weight
- Mounting configuration
- Controls
- Steering system
- Electrical requirements
- Fuel requirements
- Manufacturer specifications
If you are unsure whether an engine is compatible with your boat, contact us before purchasing.
A product that is incompatible with your boat may not qualify for a return if it has been installed, operated, modified, or otherwise used.
20. Order Cancellations
If you need to cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible.
We will attempt to accommodate cancellation requests received before an order has been processed or shipped.
Once an order has been shipped, it may no longer be possible to cancel it. In that situation, the order may need to be handled under the applicable return procedure.
Special-order, custom, or manufacturer-processed orders may have different cancellation conditions.
